आयुर्वेद
The world's oldest complete medical system — treating the whole person, not just the symptom

Ayurveda ('knowledge of life') is the traditional Indian system of medicine, rooted in the Atharvaveda and developed in texts like the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita. It is based on three bodily humours (doshas): Vata (air/space — governs movement), Pitta (fire/water — governs metabolism), and Kapha (earth/water — governs structure). Health is the balance of these three doshas; disease is imbalance. Treatment uses herbs, diet, massage, yoga, and lifestyle rather than primarily medication. WHO recognises Ayurveda as a traditional medicine system.

A 60-second practice

Notice your dominant energy right now: restless and scattered (Vata), sharp and intense (Pitta), or slow and heavy (Kapha)? Ayurveda's first step is simply to notice which dosha is out of balance.

Ayurveda assigns different dosha energies to different times of day.
