Girnar
गिरनार
The ancient mountain of moksha where Neminatha attained liberation
Girnar is a mountain in Gujarat, 1,117 metres high, covered with hundreds of Hindu and Jain temples. It is the site where Neminatha, the 22nd Tirthankara, attained liberation. The Hindu temples at the summit include shrines to Dattatreya, Gorakshanath, and Amba Mata. The mountain is known for its Ashoka edicts carved at its base — one of the oldest stone inscriptions in India. The annual Girnar Parikrama (circumambulation) sees hundreds of thousands walk the 36-km circuit.

A 60-second practice
Walk outside and look at the sky above you. Imagine that expanse as the boundless state of liberation the Tirthankaras realised at peaks like Girnar.
Best at sunrise from the mountain summit.
