Hanuman Jayanti

हनुमान जयंती
The birthday of Hanuman — celebrated with the chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa

Hanuman Jayanti celebrates the birth of Hanuman on the full moon of Chaitra. Hundreds of millions of devotees recite the Hanuman Chalisa (40 verses in praise of Hanuman composed by Tulsidas) and visit Hanuman temples, which are traditionally open all night. Hanuman is considered ever-present wherever the Ramayana is sung or the name of Rama is chanted. Tuesday and Saturday are his days, and many Hindus fast on one or both.
