Ram Navami

राम नवमी
The celebration of Rama's birth on the ninth day of Chaitra

Ram Navami celebrates the birth of Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu, on the ninth day of the bright fortnight of Chaitra (March–April). The Ramayana is read, Rama's story is enacted, and temples are beautifully decorated. In Ayodhya and Rameshwaram, the celebrations are especially elaborate. Ram Navami falls during the Navratri period — the Chaitra (spring) Navratri — connecting Rama's birth to the energy of the Divine Mother's nine-day celebration.

A 60-second practice

Think of one 'dharmic act' — one thing you will do today that is right, even if it's inconvenient. That is the Rama spirit: righteousness in everyday action.

Noon — the hour of Rama's birth.
