Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji
ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ
The child Guru who healed thousands during a smallpox epidemic and attained martyrdom at age 8
Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji (1656–1664) became the eighth Sikh Guru at age 5, the youngest Guru in history. Brought to Delhi by Emperor Aurangzeb, he spent his time healing the sick during a smallpox and cholera epidemic by distributing water from the Yamuna River. He contracted smallpox himself while serving the afflicted and passed at age 8. His last words pointed to the next Guru — his grand-uncle Tegh Bahadur. The Bangla Sahib Gurudwara in Delhi is built where he served the sick.
