Saraswati

सरस्वती
Goddess of knowledge, music, arts, and the flowing river of wisdom

Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge, music, arts, speech, wisdom, and learning. She is depicted in white, seated on a lotus or white swan, holding a veena (lute), a book, and a rosary. The sacred Saraswati river, now mostly underground, was one of the mightiest rivers of ancient India. She is the consort of Brahma and the mother of the Vedas. On Vasant Panchami, students across India worship their books and instruments as an offering to Saraswati.
