Sita

सीता
The daughter of the Earth who embodies steadfast dignity and dharmic strength

Sita is the heroine of the Ramayana and the consort of Rama, considered an avatar of Lakshmi. Born from the earth (she was found in a ploughed furrow by King Janaka — hence 'Sita', meaning 'furrow'), she is the daughter of the Earth. She willingly followed Rama into 14 years of forest exile and endured captivity in Lanka with extraordinary dignity. Her agni pariksha (fire trial) and her final return to the Earth are among the most discussed passages in Indian literature and raise profound questions about justice and female strength.
