Lakshmi

लक्ष्मी
Goddess of wealth, fortune, beauty, and auspiciousness

Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, fortune, prosperity, and auspiciousness. She is the consort of Vishnu and accompanies him in all his avatars — as Sita with Rama, as Rukmini with Krishna. She arose from the churning of the cosmic ocean (Samudra Manthan) holding a lotus. She is depicted as a beautiful woman in gold and red, with four arms raining gold coins. On Diwali night, homes are lit to welcome Lakshmi's arrival.
