Kashyapa

The progenitor sage whose descendants include both gods and demons

Kashyapa is one of the Saptarishis and the most prolific progenitor in Vedic mythology. His wives (daughters of Daksha) gave birth to the devas, asuras, nagas, and other beings. The Kashyapa gotra is one of the most widespread Brahmin lineages.
