Vyasa

व्यास
The sage who compiled the Vedas, wrote the Mahabharata, and authored the Puranas

Vyasa is one of the greatest figures in Hindu tradition — the compiler of the four Vedas, author of the Mahabharata (including the Bhagavad Gita), the Brahma Sutras, and the 18 Puranas. His full name is Krishna Dwaipayana — born on an island (dwipa) with dark (krishna) complexion. He is considered one of the seven Chiranjivis (immortals) who remain alive through all ages. The festival of Guru Purnima is celebrated in his honour as the archetypal Adi Guru (original teacher).
