Kartikeya

कार्तिकेय
The six-faced god of war, youth, and spiritual victory

Kartikeya is the son of Shiva and Parvati, the commander of the gods' army and destroyer of the demon Tarakasura. He is depicted with six heads (Shanmukha) riding a peacock with a vel (spear). In South India he is Murugan, one of the most popular deities of Tamil Nadu with major temples at Tiruchendur, Palani, and Swamimalai. The festival of Thaipusam sees devotees carry kavadi (ornate frames) in his honour. He embodies the warrior-seeker who has conquered the ego.
