Parvati
पार्वती
The gentle mountain goddess and devoted wife who embodies love and devotion
Parvati is the benevolent form of Shakti, the gentle consort of Shiva and mother of Ganesha and Kartikeya. She is the daughter of Himavan, king of the Himalayas — her name means 'she of the mountains'. Through supreme austerity (tapas) she won Shiva's love after he was lost in deep meditation. As Annapurna she feeds the world; as Gauri she shines with golden light. The loving partnership of Shiva and Parvati (Ardhanarishvara — the half-man half-woman form) represents the union of masculine and feminine forces.

A 60-second practice
Think of one relationship in your life. Send it a breath of patient, unconditional love — no demands, no expectations. That is Parvati's quality: love that waits.
Best in the early morning — the time of Gauri's gentle light.
