Guru Gobind Singh Ji

ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ
The warrior-poet-philosopher who created the Khalsa and declared the Guru Granth Sahib as eternal Guru

Guru Gobind Singh Ji (1666–1708) was the tenth and last human Sikh Guru, son of the martyred Guru Tegh Bahadur. On Vaisakhi 1699 he created the Khalsa — the community of initiated Sikhs — initiating the first Panj Pyaare (Five Beloved Ones) with Amrit (holy water). He gave Sikhs the five K's (Kesh, Kanga, Kara, Kachera, Kirpan) as identity. After losing all four sons in battle, he composed the Zafarnama (Epistle of Victory) — a letter of supreme dignity to Aurangzeb who had broken his word. He declared the Guru Granth Sahib Ji as the eternal, living Guru.
