Brahman

ब्रह्मन्
The infinite, unchanging reality behind all existence

Brahman is the ultimate, transcendent reality in Hindu philosophy — the single binding unity behind the entire universe. It is not a god to be worshipped but the ground of all being: formless, limitless, and eternal. Every deity, every soul, every grain of dust is a manifestation of Brahman. The Upanishads declare 'Tat Tvam Asi' — That Thou Art — meaning the individual soul (Atman) and the universal soul (Brahman) are ultimately one.

A 60-second practice

Sit quietly. Close your eyes. Ask: 'Who is aware of my thoughts right now?' Rest in that awareness — not the thoughts, but the witness behind them. That silent witness is a glimpse of Brahman.

Best practised at dawn or dusk — the sandhya periods when silence is deepest.
